Words from a wise man’s mouth are gracious, but a fool is consumed by his own lips.
At the beginning his words are folly; at the end they are wicked madness . . . and the fool multiplies words.*
Here’s something to remember: Everything in life is moving in some sort of progression. And the final destination has everything to do with the initial direction.
Thus: Words that start with an early twist will end in a hopeless knot . . . and the fool doesn’t know when to quit.
I’m convinced words are the most powerful things we have.
Used wrong, they’re also the most dangerous.
The tongue’s not just a fire, it’s a flame thrower. One that backfires, burning up the shooter.
The words of the wise are cool water. Quenching everyone’s thirst . . . and fire.
Speaking of words’ progression, I’m reminded of a Robert Frost quote:
A poem begins in delight
and ends in wisdom.
And wisdom is it’s own delight.
(I said that.)
Measure your words; by them we are measured by everyone else.

Loved this Hyatt! I pray often the verse that says, “Lord put a watch over my mouth. Let my words be few and pure!” Everyday I pray this because it is so true————-what you say, how you say it, the words you use, and deciding when to say anything at all ————are by far your most important contribution or——– in the case of making an error by what you say——-can have huge affects on people, their hearts, their lives and their happiness! Blessings! Lisa

Hi Hyatt,
Great message. I was challenged by your New Year’s message to “Follow Jesus” in a daily walk with Him. After the deep message you shared, I loved how you broke it down to such a basic concept of a daily obedient surrender to Jesus.
Today I was reading the January 5th message in “My Utmost for His Highest”
Title “THE LIFE OF POWER TO FOLLOW,” Oswald Chambers provides the “how to” roadmap to doing it daily successfully.
Thanks again.
