Didinga Woman and Child
Sudan
Oil on Canvas
24" x 32" 60cm x 80cm
Poor but rich She has a child . . . Her identity, her care, her “other.” Only somewhat aware of the wealth she doesn’t have, Without that child she’d have nothing. It’s hard living, in south Sudan But it’s all she knows . . . And growing up, it’s all the child will know. So in many ways, it’s okay. For life is lived in giving life, And caring for another.
